Oh Becky that is going to be such a bright cheerful block. I can hardly wait to see it finished.
You mentioned that you are finger pressing towards the yellow, does that cause excessive bulk in the points? How will you handle that when you set the circle into the background fabric? Ya know we need to see that back too LOL.
Hey There Crispy! You have sharp eyes, gal. Yeah, that's a problem. Haven't quite worked it out yet. I'm considering the options as I work. I THINK I can fold one side over, then the other side back. Possibly trim the underside a bit. I'll try it on a sample first. There are several options, and which I choose may be specific to the fabric and also the the quiting plan. Any ideas?
Becky, when I did a NYB block with lots of skinny points, I pressed all in one direction and it layed very nice and flat. I was using browns and golds so I didn't have to worry about shadowing though. I was thinking that you will have sharper points if you press all to one side too.... It'll be interesting to see what you end up doing.
I'm thinking that is probably the way I'll go, Crispy. There's no way I could quilt anywhere near those points if I tried to fold the seam allowances over on themselves. There's just too much bulk. I don't think I want to trim the allowances to reduce their bulk, either. With these beefy fabrics,I'd never get a tiny seam allowance to lie flat.
